Wheel Adapter

South Atlantic wheel adapters function as a brake system. The control lines are routed to a drum mounted on a disc attached directly to the wheel. The drum’s position on the disc is adjustable, allowing for precise course trimming. As long as the clamps securing the drum to the disc are not overtightened, the drum will slip under excessive load, protecting the rest of the system.

The adapter engages and controls the wheel when the windvane self-steering system (S301, S440, and S470) is in operation.
